Question: Do IRC CD-ROMs work accross Networks?

Answer: No. Due to licensing and copyright restrictions, IRC CD-ROMs are not designed to operate over networks. However, each CD-ROM application has been bundled in 5, 10, and 25 disk packages, at a low cost per CD-ROM, to allow each student to work individually with a CD-ROM in a classroom setting.

Question: I am having difficulty printing barcodes. I am getting @56! characters. How to I print barcodes?

Answer: The installation application process fonts into the operating system on all platforms. After installing, you must reboot your system for the fonts to be noticed by the operating system. If the barcodes still do not print after rebooting, then look in the README.TXT file on the CD-ROM and follow the step to manually install the barcode font.

Question: After installing an IRC application (The Western Civilization CD-ROM, The American History CD-ROM or World History CD-ROM) the National Geographic CD-ROM Picture Atlas of the World program does not function properly. Also, I tried re-installing the Picture Atlas and it still didn't work. How do I fix the problem?

Platform: Windows 95 or NT

Analysis: There is a file located in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory named C4DLL.DLL. This file, written generically, is located in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory so that all of the IRC applications can use it without duplicating it several times. For some reason the National Geographic CD-ROM is overriding this local version of cb5.dll and attempting to use the C4DLL.DLL file, creating the errors at startup.

Answer: Copy the C4DLL.DLL file to the appropriate IRC directory, e.g. C:\IRC\AHCD, C:\IRC\WHCD, or C:\IRC\WCCD, and if you have all three application copy the c4dll.dll file to all three directories. After copying the file, delete it from the Windows\System directory. Now re-install the National Geographic application and overwrite all files. This solution will allow both applications to work at the same time.
